Airport

Overview

The Cascade Airport is located 85 miles north of Boise Airport (BOI); 35 miles south of McCall Airport (MYL). The airport provides Friendly service, great fuel prices, and a courtesy car!

Cascade Airport became operational as a basic dirt/grass strip in June 1949. Encompassing 75 acres, the airport is located two miles SE of the city of Cascade along State Highway 55, has 24 tie-downs and 44 hangars, and averages 8,000–9,000 operations per year.

For nearly 50 years now, the U.S. Mail has been delivered weekly to back-country areas via airplane from Cascade Airport – the last such airmail route in the Lower 48 States. Mail has been flown into backcountry Idaho since 1928, but in the 1950s two mail routes developed to serve isolated Idaho ranches, hunting camps, U.S. Forest Service stations, and mining locations. In 1975, Arnold Aviation consolidated the two routes into one and assumed responsibility.

Airport Advisory Committee

The Airport Advisory Committee (“AAC”) is responsible for the oversight of Airport planning and operations in an advisory capacity to the Airport Manager, the Mayor, and the City Council.  The AAC consists of 5 members appointed by the Mayor with confirmation by Council.  The AAC meetings are normally held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM at the Cascade Airport.  Meetings have a “Public Discussion” component.  Copies of Agendas and Meeting Minutes can found on the Airport’s website.
