Overview

 

The City Clerk is the custodian of the City Seal and all City records.  The City Clerk is responsible for the preservation of all city records, ordinances, resolutions, and related documents, land leases, permits, and licenses.  The City Clerk supervises the administration and collection of the local option non property tax (LOT). The City Clerk prepares and distributes the City Council agendas and information packets, schedules, and attends City Council meetings, takes, and prepares minutes.  The City Clerk is responsible for the maintenance, update of City ordinances and subsequent codification into municipal code.  The City Clerk supervises the administration of dog licensing; prepares and administers licensing for businesses, and the sale of alcoholic beverages, as well as  catering permits, event permits, vendor permits, mobile food truck permits, and fireworks permits; prepares, maintains, and administers City land leases, Airport hangar leases, and related billing, and records; and is responsible for the maintenance of accurate records on all Cemetery activity including records of plots sales, burials, inurnments, and headstone placement. The City Clerk also oversees monthly water and wastewater monitoring as performed and as required by regulatory agencies such as DEQ.
