Comprehensive Plan Information

What is a COMPREHENSIVE PLAN?

The Comprehensive Plan is the City’s policy document that directs community development for 10-20 years. It illustrates the City’s visions, goals, and priorities, and shapes the way the community will look in the future.

  • It balances competing interests on the demands on land by designating development patterns, avoiding conflicts between land uses, and public and private interests.
  • It protects public investments by requiring development to pay for itself; the Plan outlines requirements for private growth, creating less expense for the City in providing public services.
  • It protects natural resources by identifying and creating policies that protect environmental features like wetlands, agricultural lands, woods, riverine lands, and slopes.
  • It guides and shapes the appearance of the community which fosters and preserves a distinctive sense of place.

Public Involvement Opportunity

Additional opportunities to get information about the new Comprehensive Plan are planned starting [tentatively] the first week of March:

PUBLIC OPEN HOUSES: Both a.m. and p.m. sessions will be held for the public to ask questions and provide input

STAKEHOLDER MEETING*: Local community stakeholders will meet to discuss the various chapters of the Plan and provide valuable insights and information necessary for the Plan to accurately capture and outline Cascade’s vision.

*Stakeholders include local business owners, heads of local organizations, heads of large employers and other government agencies. If you fall into this category and want to be involved in the Stakeholder meeting, please email your interest and information to: peggyb@nwlandplanning.com
